People with a good layer of subcutaneous fat and round shape, the net effect less favorable. Preferred are thick hair, which is lost in scarring. Especially in men with a tendency to alopecia is negatively visible scar Thin-sleep of the head.

he procedure is usually done under local anesthesia, less often, under general anesthesia, it takes about 2-3 hours. The cuts are located in the temporal area where ahead of the pinna around the earlobe towards for earlobes to the scalp.

After Surgery

Where used, the drainage was removed on the following day. The patient leaves with a bandaged head, are suitable dark glasses and a scarfThe nearest control is 5 days, when the stitches are removed before the pinna, the other stitches are selected on 10-12 postoperative day. It can then gently wash hair irritating, best baby shampoo.
Swelling and bruising, particularly in the region of the eyelids and the neck, is resorbed within 21 days. Make-up is recommended 3 weeks after surgery, hair dye after month. The final result of this intensive operations can be expected in 2-3 months.

No surgery is not without risk, no doctor can not guarantee the perfect success of the surgery, even if it is carried out according to the latest medical knowledge and respecting the prescribed procedures. Each body reacts individually to the administration of drugs, anesthetics, and the actual surgery. If one doctor performed the same procedure on two patients with the utmost precision and responsibility, not necessarily in both patients bring the same result. Let us always in the initial consultation to learn about the potential risks and intraoperative and postoperative complications. Responsible expert warns you alone.

Otoplasty (ear pinning)

Otoplasty is a surgical procedure that corrects the appearance of protruding or otherwise deformed ears and is the most common reconstructive surgery in children. In order to improve aesthetic appearance an alteration of the external part of the ear is necessary to bring the ear closer to the head.

When to have an otoplasty procedure?

In order to avoid teasing and self-esteem issues, that children with protruding ears are frequently exposed to, is the surgery indicated at around the age of 6. The main issue remains the personal decision of the child (not only that of the parents) to improve its appearance, one that makes the major contribution to good cooperation during the procedure and good tolerance the post-operative recovery. There is no upper age limit and the procedure outcome is permanent.

The operation is preferentially performed under local anesthesia, since the patient must be conscious to cooperate. In children under 6 years of age general anesthesia is usually selected. The child must be healthy. In case the child has just recovered from infection of airways, treated by antibiotics, at least a 3 week hiatus should be inserted before the surgery.

Any incisions made are located on the back side of ear lobe, the wounds being in case of child patient closed by resorbable material – a choice that makes unpopular pulling of stitches unnecessary.

After the procedure

The procedure has a short recovery time and the patient leaves right after surgery with his/her head bandaged. In order to avoid asymmetric swelling, sleeping on the back is recommended. Unless there are complications, after a week the patients are invited for the first inspection, in order to replace the cover, the bandage being removed altogether on the 14th day after surgery. It is recommended that the following 4 weeks an elastic headband is worn to fix the ear lobes in their new position.

What should the surgery be preceded with?

It is recommended that on the evening prior to surgery the head is washed and the ear canal cleaned.

Liposuction

Our state of the art liposuction technology has made us leader in liposuction in Slovakia.

Liposuction is a local anesthesia procedure meant for body contouring, involving fat removal from target areas. Thus the volume of fat tissue is decreased without changing the size of skin. In such body contouring procedure the reduction of body weight is not a priority, it is rather its redistribution and reshaping.

Patient Indication

In patient with with firm, elastic skin liposuction is the method of choice. Contrariwise patients with an excess of flappy skin (overhang) it is appropriate alongside liposuction to remove the skin tissue as well. To the most frequently treated body areas belong lifetime problem areas such as lower abdomen, inner and outer thigh, hips and the so-called double chin. The procedure remains in effect only if the patient afterwards adheres to the healthy nutrition. Otherwise the fat keeps coming back.

What is the procedure like?

In our clinic liposuction is a local anesthesia procedure using the tumescent technique a technique which involves injection of a suitable volume of prepared dilution solution into the fat tissue. The solution has a two-fold purpose. If applied correctly it guarantees up to 18 hours anesthesia in the treated area on the one hand, and facilitates the aspiration of subcutaneous fat tissue on the other. The injected solution is left approx. 30 minutes to develop its effect, whereupon the emulsion, formed from fat cells and the solution, is removed by suction. Emulsification of fat tissue facilitates its removal without causing major injury of subcutaneous blood vessels and nerves. Another advantage is the possibility to use thinner cannulae. Such microcannulae in turn cause less damage to subcutaneous tissue, less bleeding and swelling, thus shortening the recovery time.

An introduction of a microcannule causes generates a puncture so small, that in many cases it does not require a stitch afterwards.

What are the advantages of our state of the art method?

In our clinic the latest in liposuction equipment is used, affording maximum of comfort for the performing surgeon . The equipment thus exactly controls a registers the volume of injected solution, and issues warning in case of overload. The aspirated fat emulsion is measured with milliliter precision, supplementing the crude visual volume estimate from the collection flask.
Its vibration motion allows solution to better penetrate into the tissue, accentuating its effect and minimizing the amount of solution needed. The equipment also measured the amount of removed fat – a feature most handy when removing fat from two sides of the patient, allowing to achieve symmetry more easily.

Our liposuction equipment also checks the resistance to flow within cannule. Should this resistance increase, the equipment switches off to prevent damage to blood vessels, nerves and other structures. The obvious benefits are less painful post-operative phase, faster and shorter recovery time. This technological innovation is currently one of its kind in Slovakia and an absolute hit in the USA.

After the procedure

Within 1-2 hours following liposuction procedure the patient leaves the clinic . For several following weeks the patient is supposed to wear elastic underwear. 24 hours immediately following the surgery the tumescent solution may seep through the punctures. The next day the patient can shower and again put on elastic underwear. If the patients job does not involve great physical effort, e.g. office work, he/she can return to normal life after a week. More intense physical activities should be postpone another month. Subcutaneous haematoma usually disappear within 2-3 weeks. Swellings gradually resolve during 2-3 months.

What should the surgery be preceded with?

The day preceding liposuction do not apply fat skin cream; hormonal contraception should be stopped a month before surgery. It is convenient to depilate areas treated by liposuction.

The is no such thing as risk less surgery, no surgeon can guarantee perfect success of the surgery, even though it has been carried in accordance with the latest medical knowledge . The effect of drugs, anesthetics and of the surgery itself is specific for each human body. Performed on two patient in exactly the same manner and precision does not necessarily produce the same result. Consult possible risks, surgical and post-surgical complications during the introductory consultation. A conscientious surgeon would bring these up himself.

Mole removal

Birthmark or a common mole {nevus} is a small accumulation of pigmented cells – melanocytes. Depending on the amount of melanocytes and depth to which they reach into the skin can vary the coloration from dark to skin-colored ones. Most moles are are harmless and need not be surgically removed.

A better diagnostics owes much to the use of digital dermatoscope, an instrument capable of visualizing already early sages of skin lesions. We distinguish between benign and malign skin lesions. While benign lesions accompany most us for our entires lives, the malignant lesions are of a much more sinister nature. Basal-cell carcinoma (basaliomas) tend to grow slowly and quietly aggressive, while spinocellular carcinoma and especially malignant melanoma metastasize quickly and endanger the patient’s life. On the previously unscathed skin malignant melanoma form In 50% to 70% of cases , in the rest of cases a they use an already existing mole. In the colloquial language the term birthmark has been used for every color change of skin, skin follicles or blemishes.

Suspicious skin lesions are surgically removed under local anesthesia during an office visit. The procedure is painless and it doesn’t restrict the patient in every day life. The final histology findings confirm or exclude cancerous tumor and helps decide whether the mole has to be removed completely. Depending on location the stitches are removed on day 5 -14 after surgery, the wound however maturing time for scars can be up to 12 months . In order to minimize the formation of scars the incisions are made along the natural skin splitting lines, usually natural wrinkles an skin folds. In spite of every effort on the part of surgeon, at certain typical locations or in predisposed patients hypertrophic or keloid scar healing can occur. Hypertrophic healing form a scats thicker the the surrounding skin, keloid scars heal outside the original wound. Whilst keloid scars still cannot be treated adequately, solutions exist for patients with tendency to develop hypertrophic scars.

To sum it all up. Just as in cases of other tumors, prevention and early diagnostics of suspicious skin lesions and finally their surgical removal are of utmost importance. It is especially true in case of skin, which is anything but hidden to the eye.

Eyelid surgery

Cosmetic Eyelid surgery also known as blepharoplasty is an option in cases of excess and unwanted skin and fat above the upper and lower eyelids, which may also be caused by sagging of the forehead and eyebrows which results in overhanging skin on the eyelids and restriction of your line of sight. Hundreds of thousands of men and women undergo blepharoplasty.

Patient Indication

Surgery is indicated for patients with excess skin tissue, over-developed orbicular muscle or excess fat which causes baggy eyelids. In many patients these conditions are combined. Frequent are feeling of heavy tired eyelids, typical puffiness and so called bags under the eyes.

Concomitantly, in older patient one often observes sagging eyebrows, which should be tackled first.

When is the surgery indicated?

Surgical reconstruction of eyelids is usually indicated at about 40 years of age, but in genetically predisposed persons it is not unusual to correct them already at 30, especially as the fat bags removal from lower lid is concerned. The procedure has a long-term effect, fat bags disappear permanently.

It is a local anesthesia procedure. The incision is led through the natural wrinkle line at upper eyelid and about 1-2 mm under the rim of lower eye, both reaching out several millimeters beyond the outer eye corner.

After the surgery

Immediately after the surgery cooling gels are applied to eyelids to mitigate the post-operative pain, swellings and bruising. Application of gels is meaningful during 24 hours after the surgery. Eyes should be washed several times a day by O-Septonex. The sutures are removed after 5-6 days.

Bruising can be hidden under dark glasses, it disappears within 2 weeks. Wait with the make-up for at least a week. Six to eight weeks after the surgery the scars are barely visible.

What should the surgery be preceded with?

The night before surgery do not use fatty eye cream. The patient is not supposed to carry make-up.

Tummy Tuck (abdominoplasty)

Abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure to remove excess overhanging skin from the middle and lower abdomen, usually associated with restoring muscles of the abdominal wall. Typical patients for this type of procedure are women after several pregnancies.

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, and antibiotic screen. The incision is made low abdomen, later to be covered by underwear. Post-operational drains are applied to the would, the abdomen is tightened by an elastic bandaging.

After the procedure

Depending on the volume of aspirated blood the drains are removed 3-5 after procedure. The bandages are replaced by elastic underwear or abdominal band and the patient can continue recovering at home. The sutures are removed after 12-14 days. Elastic underwear is worn at least another 4 weeks, standard physical activity is recommended after 10 days, full physical activity should be taken up after 2 months.

What should the surgery be preceded with?

The day before surgery consume only light meals and do not apply any fatty cream to your abdomen. All other recommendations for general anesthesia procedures apply too. Immediately before the procedure any hair should be pared off.

Carpal tunnel syndrome

What is carpal tunnel syndrome and how is it?

The carpal tunnel is formed by the carpal bones and tight band. In him extend a portion of the finger tendons and a nerve, the median nerve. This nerve supplies certain muscles of the hand and is responsible for the sensitivity (sensitivity) of the palm and fingers of the specific areas.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is based on a chronic pressure load of this nerve. The carpal tunnel is a bottleneck for the nerve, thus swelling of the tendons and Bindegewebswucherungen can compress it. These occur, for example during pregnancy or with certain metabolic disorders such as gout

The lack of space in the carpal tunnel is due in some cases to injuries in the wrist. Thus, a narrowing caused by malposition after fractures or after injuries in the wrist area. Also rheumatic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis can lead through the formation of malpositions or scar tissue to pressure on the nerves. A rare cause of nerve compression are tumors in the area of the wrist. Likewise, a congenital obstruction of the carpal tunnel reinforce the pressure load.

Woman are three times more likely than men of carpal tunnel syndrome affects obese people also suffer more frequently than normal weight it. Most patients are between 40 and 70 years old, but also have teenagers or seniors sometimes carpal tunnel syndrome on. There is often on both hands.

What solution do we offer?

When staying with a proven carpal tunnel syndrome with considerable feeling and movement disorders therapy experiments described without success or if the complaints continue to increase or recur at short intervals, you should think about an operation. In this way the pressure loading of the nerve in the carpal tunnel can significantly reduced and permanent nerve damage can be prevented.

The process takes about 30 minutes. in general anesthesia or local anesthesia. In general, patients are free of pain immediately after the operation and they remain there most of the long term. Physiotherapy exercises can help quickly to normalize the Hand function again.

Forehead and eyebrow lifting

A fairly spectacular procedure, indicated in patients developing deep forehead wrinkles and loose skin resulting in lower than desired brow position.

It is a local anesthesia procedure. An isolated brow lift can be performed in local anesthesia. The incision is made in the scalp behind the hairline. The skin above the lifted area is loosened, the mimic muscle interrupted (its long-term contractions generated wrinkles in the first place) and the excess skin in the scalp is removed. The wound is stitched, and sometimes drained, the whole head is bandaged.

After the procedure

The swelling is kept at minimum in a semi reclined sitting position. The drainage is removed the next day and patient can go home with the head still bandaged. Dark glasses and a headscarf are the recommended attire. The next control is due in several days, sutures are removed after 10-14 days.

It is often convenient in several months to supplement the procedure by eyelid surgery, a combination which would rejuvenate the upper third of the face.

What should the surgery be preceded with?

The evening before surgery wash your hair; do not use any other hair cosmetics such setting lotion or lacquer, for skin use hydrating, but not fatty cream. On the day of surgery not not use makeup.
